Fab Wedding Idea- Cootie Catchers

I think having something like cootie catchers at a wedding is such a fun and unexpected surprise- I don't think I've ever seen them featured at weddings before so I thought it would be an original thing to try. Two problems though- first, could I diy my own or is it incredibly complicated? And two- even if I could make them, how would I feature them? Would I put one at each place setting? Off the the side somewhere?

I then came upon knottie Vintage Glam's fabulous blog and saw this:

A complete DIY guide to how to make a cootie catcher. This boosted my confidence a little and I'm starting to think maybe I could pull off making my own. But what to do with them afterwards? I later stumbled upon a lovely photo from Darcy Miller's wedding that answered my question:

Large glass containers set down at various tables. So simple- why didn't I think of it? Maybe I can pull off something similar without doing major damage to my budget. Any thoughts?

Wedding Day Fashion

For those of you who are Gossip Girl fans, you know that fashion plays a big part in it. I myself just started watching the show when I saw this:

Serena's dress featured in the 2008 season premiere. Who thinks that this could also be used as a wedding dress? Apparently the gown is from the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2008 collection but perhaps I could find a lesser-priced version of it??

Save the Dates

Lately I've been thinking about our save the date cards and trying to think up of something creative and unique but that also reflects our personal styles and is related with the wedding. Inspired by black and white photographs, I dragged my fiance to our reception site on Sunday night to snap some photos of the room where the party will take place. Luckily the space was totally empty and I was able to take a few pics- I then played around on photo shop and this is what I came up with:

Any thoughts?

Places to Elope: Lake Como, Italy

Who wouldn't love to get married at this gorgeous villa in Lake Como, Italy?

Villa del Balbianello, located in Lake Como, Italy is not only is available for weddings but is also where part of Star Wars Episode II was filmed. I had the great fortune of visiting the Villa and can tell you that the pictures don't do it justice. It's absolutely stunning and would provide the most perfect backdrop for a wedding- and you wouldn't have to leave to go anywhere to start your honeymoon!

Cake Decor

I always eschewed the idea of a cake topper convinced that they were only limited to the generic plastic bride and groom. I'm starting to change my mind as I've noticed a diverse variety of cake toppers that are available. Check out a couple of my favorites:

Our DOC

FI and I recently just signed a contract for our day of coordinator. Presenting our DOC:

Image from proud to plan

Erin of Proud to Plan is amazing. When I met her, she had such good energy and so many great ideas of things that I had never even thought of. After our initial meeting, I felt so much more calm and relieved knowing that she would be present at our wedding to take care of all of the details that I won't be able to personally supervise. Check out her blog for other weddings she's worked on!
